My experience at Georgetown was great. My professors were all very supportive of Mormons and the student organizations department was very helpful in facilitating JRCLS meetings, events, and so forth. We received funding from the school and were able to co-host several functions with other organizations (regularly the Muslim Law Society).
ReplyDeleteI also felt that religion was important there. Despite Georgetown's reputation as a liberal stalwart, the school is still fundamentally Catholic. We had a chapel in the middle of the school and several clergy members on staff (including Rabbis and a Mullah, I believe). We had prayers at all major events and religious diversity was celebrated. I was even able to take several religion and law classes.
But the real strength was the high number of Mormons there. We regularly had 30+ participants in our weekly JRCLS meetings.
Nebraska should be on there. Married law students can get in-state tuition fairly easily if their wife gets employment in the state. (In state tuition is around 13k a year). The editor-in-chief of the law review and four other law review members of the law review are LDS. One of the most senior professors is also LDS. Very Mormon friendly.
ReplyDeleteHey, Anonymous, if you read this please send me details on qualifying for resident tuition at Nebraska.
